They probably take these allegations so overboard-seriously because they don't wanna risk missing a legitimate case. That'd be bad publicity for them, and even worse, it means a woman was victimized and no justice was brought upon the perpetrator, who might go on to do it again.
Which of those two outcomes they actually consider worse, though, is something I'm too worried to guess at.
That said, if guys're gettin' punished for shit they didn't do, then obviously something needs to be fixed.
