So, the time has finally come upon us. Ridley Scott has returned to the science-fiction genre with a film originally intended as a prequel to Alien, but finalized as more of a semi-prequel set in the same universe and a few of the same elements, but telling a whole new story that can stand on its own while still leading into the beloved franchise.
That semi-prequel is, of course, Prometheus.
In support of this film, they launched a couple viral marketing-style websites, one based on Weyland Industires (http://www.weylandindustries.com/), the other focusing on the eponymous Project Prometheus (http://www.projectprometheus.com/). The former is absolutely loaded with a treasure trove of in-universe information regarding the early stages of the Aliens Universe, including what's probably a subtle reference to the creation of the Colonial Marines in its corporate timeline, and even an image of the Weyland Storm Rifle, the precursor to the M41A Pulse Rifle. Hell, I half-expect to see the rifle in the theaters come next month when the film releases.
I strongly recommend perusing the Weyland Industries site in particular. We could probably use some of that info if implemented properly, and besides that the whole thing's just really damn cool.
So, who else plans to see the movie?

Oh shit, I forgot I didn't reply to this.
Damn right I'm gonna see it. Friend of mine actually got to see it early (the benefits of knowing people in the film industry) and he said it was good, so that kinda guarantees it. It shall be.. interesting. Especially if some of the fan theories get validated, though those rarely ever come true.

That was a fantastic addition to the universe, which now consists of three movies.
My wife and I still try to banish the horrible memories of the last two "sequels" and this did the trick. :3

Back of Armor in White Gothic Lettering, Commodum Habistus Es
Right Shin Guard in Black Sharpie, Your Ass Here with an arrow pointing downward

I was really excited for this movie, hell I started the thread here.
Then it came out, and everything I've heard from the people I know who've seen it is, well, pretty damn negative. The only good things I've heard is the cinematography and special effects are good.
I still plan to see it, I'm just gonna wait for the DVD to come out and rent it from Redbox for a dollar.

If people are looking for a massive play-by-play into how the Xenomorphs came to be, that's not what the movie was really for. We got to see more into the starjockey and see what the xenomorphs really were to Scott. I'll take the creator's vision over everyone else's any day.

Re: Prometheus, the semi-prequel to Alien
It was an awesome movie and there is no doubt that Ridley Scott had a pretty intense vision for the xenomorphs. Granted the enormous facehugger of doom... definitely scared the crap out of me.
Helmet written in sharpie: Audaces Fortuna Iuvat
Front of body armor: "Don't Fear the Reaper" with a stylized Grim Reaper beneath the words.
Back of armor: Unfinished Celtic knot.
